Ontario Family Photographer | A Beachfront Session at Martin River Provincial Park

This family session is easily one of my favourites, and not just because they’re family.

This is my cousin Nick, his wife Charlotte, and their kids Joey, Annie, and Charlie. Since they live in Timmins and I’m in Newmarket, getting family photos done together isn’t easy. We knew we’d all be in the same place during our big cousin camping trip, so we planned their family session during that time. It felt like the perfect opportunity to make it happen without forcing schedules or travel.

We met up at Martin River Provincial Park, and the beachfront there couldn’t have been a better setting. The space, the water, and the light all worked so well for a relaxed family session, especially for a family with three kids who are happiest when they’re moving and having fun.

Their outfits were perfect for the location. Charlotte and the girls wore white, while Nick and Charlie wore blue and khaki, which looked great against the sand and water. We got some really sweet photos of everyone together before the kids made it clear they were ready to get into the lake.

So we let them.

What followed was a full on water fight, lots of splashing, running, laughing, and kids just being kids. And honestly, those ended up being the best photos of the whole session. Real smiles, real laughter, mom and dad cracking up, Joey, Annie, and Charlie having the best time, and zero pressure to pose or behave a certain way.

By the end of the session, everyone was completely soaked, but the smiles were huge. It was one of those sessions where everything just worked because no one tried to control it too much. It was fun, genuine, and exactly what family photos should feel like.
