Maternity Photographer Newmarket | A Sweet Session Before Baby Number Two

This maternity session was a little different than most because it was mine.

It was just me, Marc, and Callie, trying to squeeze in some family photos before our second baby arrived. I was only about ten days away from my due date when we did this session, and I already had an induction booked for seven days later. Everything felt very real and very close, especially since we didn’t know what we were having yet.

We went back to the same spot where we photographed my first maternity session. It felt right to return there for baby number two and create something that tied both pregnancies together. This time around, I set up my tripod and worked around real life moments rather than perfection.

Callie was very much not interested in standing still for photos. Most of the session involved her running around, doing her own thing, and wanting nothing to do with posing. We ended up singing Baby Shark, playing, scooping her up when she would allow it, and just leaning into the chaos a little bit. It was silly and imperfect and very us.

Looking back, that’s what makes these images so meaningful. They capture exactly where we were in that moment. A family of three on the edge of becoming four, excited, tired, a little emotional, and full of anticipation.

Seven days later, we welcomed our sweet second baby girl. At the time, we had no idea who she would be, but these photos hold that quiet pause right before everything changed.
